The 28th Dresden Brückenbausymposium DBBS attracted about 1500 participants.

Dresden Brückenbausymposium 2018 - again with KREBS+KIEFER

KREBS+KIEFER had a strong presence again in this year’s, the 28th, Brückenbausymposium in Dresden. With 1500 participants, this is one of the largest events of this kind in the German-speaking region. In addition to our company’s booth, which was often the site of technical discussions, our expertise was emphasised as “in the top tier of the construction engineering arts”, especially through the expert lecture of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Akkermann about the Kienlesberg bridge in Ulm.

The German Bridge Building prize was awarded the evening before the symposium. Michael Kretschmer, the Prime Minister of Saxony and important participant in coalition negotiations pertaining to infrastructure, emphasised that the new federal government also considers a well-maintained traffic system the foundation for a healthy economy and is committed to providing the necessary resources for its upkeep. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Akkermann has been a managing partner at KREBS+KIEFER since 2007. The company is currently very involved in diverse infrastructure projects for road, rail and water transport systems and will therefore be able to contribute significantly to their preservation and expansion.

The successful symbiosis between the engineering and design sectors in bridge building was vividly illustrated by the example of the highly complex design and construction logistics of the Kienlesberg bridge in Ulm, a bus and cable car bridge, with combined bicycle and pedestrian lanes; the expert lecture was presented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Akkermann, professor at the University Karlsruhe, specialising in infrastructure maintenance, and managing director of KREBS+KIEFER and his co-presenter Bart Halaczek from Knight Architects, Great Britain.

Stimulating technical discussions were the norm at our extraordinary and highly frequented company booth, offering a relaxed meet and greet atmosphere between the numerous members of management that attended and other employees of KREBS+KIEFER as well as the many guest of the completely booked event.
