Freiburg Citizens’ Service Centre opened

From 2014 to 2017, KREBS + KIEFER provided the services of safety and health coordination in accordance with the Construction Site Regulation during the planning and execution phase for the new construction of the administrative centre and associated day-care centre.
With the new construction, the City of Freiburg bundles altogether authorities and offices from 16 locations within the city at the new city hall. Freiburg’s Lord Mayor, Dr Salomon emphasised in his speech the importance of the new service centre for the citizens of the City of Freiburg. The new construction, costing nearly EUR 86 million, is the first of 3 possible construction phases.
The building was designed by the Düsseldorf architect, Christoph Ingenhoven, who referred in his celebratory speech to the uniqueness of the plus energy house.
The area for the citizen services, flooded with daylight through two skylights, is shaped by several service rotundas. The Berlin artist, Schirin Kretschmann designed the wall installation, "LIMON" which is located in the foyer, a 47-metre long piece of art made of 32 individual parts.
Due to the decisive contribution of KREBS + KIEFER in avoiding potential hazards and dealing with occurring hazards, the construction of the new administrative centre was completed without significant accidents in the workplace.
