Laying of the foundation stone for SC Freiburg stadium
On 29 March 2019, the foundation stone for the new Freiburg football stadium with around 35,000 spectators was ceremoniously laid. KREBS+KIEFER has been in the team of the general contractor entrusted with the construction, Köster GmbH from Osnabrück, since the competition phase.

SC Freiburg President Fritz Keller expressed his gratitude that, after long decision-making processes, the realization of the stadium has now begun. He also praised the stadium design, which also formally puts the sport without "bells and whistles" in the foreground. In their speeches, Lord Mayor Martin Horn and Finance Minister Edith Sitzmann stressed the importance of the 135 million euro project for the city and the state and therefore once again emphasized their financial contribution.
KREBS+KIEFER was already involved in the design of HPP Architekten, Düsseldorf, during the bidding phase and is now responsible for the complete structural design of the solid stadium construction and the preventive fire protection.
After the BayArena Leverkusen and the Erfurt multifunctional arena, this is already the third stadium construction for KREBS+KIEFER in the same constellation of planners and executing Company.
