New “Topography of Terror“ Documentation Center in Berlin:Handover to the “Topography of Terror“ foundation on 24th February 2010
For around 25 years, the “Topography of Terror“ foundation had wished to develop its own special documentation center on a historically significant site.
After successful completion, the new building designed by the architect Ursula Wilms (Heinle, Wischer und Partner, Berlin) was handed over to its users on schedule on 24th February 2010.
This important milestone on the way to the planned opening in May 2010 was fittingly celebrated with a small reception held by the owner (BBR) in the foyer of the new documentation center.

Prof. Nachama, chairman of the “Topography of Terror“ foundation, is shown here holding a model of the new building that was presented to him by the architect Ursula Wilms; the model shows how the building is made up of eight blocks.
The structure of the building, with square blocks each spanning 18 m, is intended to symbolize the successful cooperation between all those involved in the planning process.
