PIANC Annual General Asssembly in Berlin in May 2011:KREBS+KIEFER reports on the new ship lift at Niederfinow
The PIANC Annual General Asssembly took place from 16th to 19th May at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS) in Berlin.
During this event, the German section of PIANC offered excursions and seminar presentations on future development in shipping. As well as reports on innovative projects on the German waterways and on the development of the ports in Hamburg, Bremen and Wilhelmshaven, the subjects of the environment and sustainability in waterway construction were also addressed.

PIANC was founded in 1885 and is an international network of experts working for the development and improvement of both inland and maritime shipping and their infrastructure. It offers its members opportunities to participate in international technical working groups and holds regular conferences and seminars.
As part of this year’s conference, Dr. Lindlar, Managing Partner of KREBS+KIEFER Berlin and Dipl.-Ing. Peter Huth of Wasserstraßen-Neubauamt Berlin reported on the new ship lift at Niederfinow. Their presentation was entitled: „Construction of the new ship lift at Niederfinow – the planning process and technical aspects“.
