The completion of the Fraunhofer IPM structural works was celebrated on March 26, 2018 with the traditional topping-out address and well wishes for all involved in the construction. KREBS+KIEFER’s services contributing to the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft project were the struc-tural design and the building physics.

The celebration focused on the employees directly involved in the construction: Representatives of the builders, planners and especially the construction workers, who celebrated the on-time completion of the reinforced concrete work with a hearty get-together right there on the con-struction site.

The building is estimated to cost approximately € 60 million to complete and it will be the site of pioneering measuring technology beginning in 2020. Special use-related features necessitated unusual layouts and floor surfaces, which had to be accommodated by the load-bearing struc-tures.
