The construction pit and foundations presented a special challenge, being located immediately adjacent to the River Spree.
Because of the slimness of the floors, pre-stressed slab systems were used in some areas. Concrete qualities as high as C80/95 were used for the columns.
The enclosed space is around 130.000 m³ and the costs for the building shell amount to around 21 million Euros.
The topping-out ceremony was held on 11th September 2012. The owner and investor is CA Immo Deutschland, who will hand over the completed building to Mercedes-Benz in 2013.
KREBS+KIEFER is responsible for checking the structural design. The checking engineer is Dr.-Ing. Hans-Gerd Lindlar.
