KREBS+KIEFER Ingenieure GmbH in Mainz was awarded the contract for lining up the structural engineering within the framework of the Europewide negotiations.
The president of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts president Rudi Müller and Axl Bettendorf, the Chief Executive of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts, thanked all participating planners, executing companies and the financial stakeholders.
Master carpenter and HwK-board member Herbert Tschickardt brought the celebration to its highpoint when he mounted the topping-out crown and delivered the topping-out speech.
More than 15 months have passed since first laying the cornerstone and now, the completion of the structural works. The beginning of moving into the building is planned for June 2019.
The forward-looking building is the first educational facility built by a HwK to Passivhaus standards [passive house = rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building]. Insulation and design of the structural works will facilitate a 90 percent reduction in heating energy compared with an older model building and 75 percent less than a conventional new construction. The building centre is to house almost 200 teaching openings and 400 workshops and is, with € 44 million in eligible costs, the largest building project of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HwK).
