In his speech, the Mayor of Darmstadt Jochen Partsch emphasized the importance of the Europaviertel for the economic development of the city. It is important, for example, that “spin-offs” from the universities, i.e. businesses originating from teaching, stay in Darmstadt and create jobs there. This means that in addition to very good infrastructure, attractive and modern office space must be available. The concept of Space 20 fulfils these requirements so well that a large proportion of the space had already been rented even before construction began.
Andreas Hülsken, Division Manager of Strabag Real Estate GmbH, praised the excellent teamwork of all those involved in the planning and execution. This was essential in order to realize a sustainable office concept to such high quality standards. When the building is completed in early 2012, the aim is to achieve silver certification from DGNB, the German Sustainable Building Council. Special features of Space 20 include high flexibility of use, an intelligent building services concept, an easily accessible location and a resource-saving energy supply.
