New Kattwyk railway bridge Hamburg
The new Kattwyk railway bridge will span the southern arm of the Elbe between the Hamburg districts of Moorburg and Wilhelmsburg. It will run parallel to the existing Kattwyk bridge at a distance of around 56 metres. The old Kattwyk bridge currently serves road and rail traffic as well as pedestrians and cyclists. The fatigue caused by rail traffic means the service life of the old bridge is severely limited. In order to relieve the old structure, a new bridge has been planned. Like the old bridge, it will be a lift bridge and will be used to carry double-track rail traffic.
