The tunnel was opened for traffic after the following tests of the safety equipment:
- During the "dress rehearsal" a variety of events were simulated in the tunnel and the reactions in the tunnel were tested for conformity with RABT 2006.
- Three fire tests as specified in RABT 2006 Section 6.3.2. indicated ways of optimizing ventilation control.
- During the approval procedure by the Safety Officer, the entire safety equipment was tested again by means of spot checks.
- To complete the tests, the Berlin fire services carried out a large-scale exercise.
